  • Emergency First Aid is a shorter course designed to provide basic lifesaving skills and emergency response knowledge for workplace and personal situations. It typically covers topics such as CPR, choking emergencies, wound care, and how to respond to common medical emergencies until additional help arrives.

Standard First Aid is a more comprehensive course that includes all Emergency First Aid topics while expanding on injury management, medical emergencies, and workplace incident response. Standard First Aid courses generally include more in-depth training and additional practical hands-on scenarios.

Both courses often include CPR and AED training components, with the appropriate course depending on workplace requirements, job responsibilities, or personal needs.

First Aid and CPR training help individuals respond confidently during medical emergencies at work, at home, or in public settings. Proper training can help improve emergency response, support workplace safety, and provide valuable lifesaving knowledge when immediate action matters most.

  • In Ontario, many workplace First Aid and CPR certifications are generally valid for three years from the date of completion. Some workplaces or employers may have additional internal requirements regarding renewal timelines or recertification.
